We just got a sneak peek at Samsung's upcoming foldable phones.

Samsung, like most other phone makers, sticks to a fairly predictable schedule: one new iteration numbered by model per year. That's why we weren't surprised to learn that a Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 were scheduled for 2025, but now we have confirmation. Their codenames have just been leaked and we also learned of an unexpected third model.

galaxyclub broke the news after receiving information from Samsung. According to the site, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is codenamed B7, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is codenamed Q7. There is also a third model codenamed Q7M, but it's unclear what this entry actually is. Given that it carries a derivative codename, it's possible that this phone is a derivative of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, although we don't know what that entails.

GalaxyClub goes on to say that the mysterious Q7M has a development schedule that almost matches the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but neither is expected until summer 2025 or later. The launch of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56 in the first part of 2025 would likely take too much attention away from a new entry.

Some fans have suggested that the Q7M could be the rumored triple phone that Samsung has in development. However, that rumor also suggests that a special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip could be on the way. If that's the case, why would the codename be a derivative of the Galaxy Z Fold code?

Another rumor says that there could be a folding budget in development. Given what we know, the Q7M seems to fit that criteria better, but this is all just guesswork until more solid details leak out. An affordable foldable device would be a welcome addition, but the engineering involved in producing a foldable device makes the concept of a more affordable device seem unlikely.
