TJ Holmes found himself in an ambulance after suffering an injury at the Chicago Marathon with his girlfriend Amy Robach.
The 47-year-old media personality took to Instagram on Monday to post photos and videos of himself in the back of an ambulance during the long-distance race.
In another snapshot, his legs and feet were seen while he was tied to the stretcher.
There was also a video that appeared to have been taken of Amy showing her leg and looking at TJ looking quite concerned.
He captioned the small gallery: 'So, this happened. Full story to come…. [tearing up emoji] #DNF #chicagomarathon.'

His 51-year-old partner then took to her Instagram Story to reveal what the injury was, writing: “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out.”
TJ had also posted a selfie of himself during the race alongside one of him in the ambulance with the caption: 'How I got out of this…'. to this.'
He has been open about his health issues while training for the marathon, as he said on the September 30 episode of his Amy and TJ podcast: 'One of the two of us may not be executing it.
“And I was almost crying this morning after running what was supposed to be an eight-mile race and I only made it 1.6 miles.”
Amy revealed at the time that her partner had been struggling with his Achilles tendon, saying: “I have to say you've been way over that.”
'Every day you're freezing, you're warming up. She has gone to a foot specialist who has performed some laser heat therapy. You have done everything you can. You are on a constant dose of Aleve and Advil and it has not improved.
Last month he revealed he had been suffering from the pain for two months, describing it at the time as “swelling at the back of the heel”.
Amy added that TJ had been considering whether or not to run the race for fear of suffering a serious injury.

She said: “Obviously, you don't want to rupture your Achilles tendon, and that's the fear.”
Meanwhile, also last month Amy revealed that she and TJ won't be getting married anytime soon.
The television reporter, who previously worked for ABC Information, said there is “no urgency” to walk down the aisle even though both she and Holmes, 47, want to marry again.
This comes two years after DailyMail.com exposed that the former Good Morning America co-hosts were having a workplace affair and split from their respective partners.
In the wake of the scandal, Robach said on Thursday's episode of I Do, Half 2, his new podcast about “love, resilience and second chances” with Holmes, Jennie Garth and Jana Kramer, that they are in no rush to get married.
“There is no urgency in the sense that I am 51 years old,” he explained. “I don't need to rush into anything.”
The journalist emphasized that they intend to get married but they do not have a schedule or an established plan.
“I think I've rushed into everything in my life so far,” he continued. “But he knows I want to get married and I know he wants to get married.”

Robach added that the two “have said publicly” that they want to spend the rest of their lives together.
“We haven't set a timeline and we talk about it all the time,” he explained. “I don't think a week goes by without us talking like, 'Should we?' Should we?”'
Holmes also weighed in on their romance, saying their love feels “different.”
“I'm a big fan of love,” he said.
“There's nothing I love more than a wedding and just the thought of someone making that commitment and a new beginning and building something together,” she gushed.
“This time is different for me as it doesn't feel like the next step,” he continued. '[It’s not like]”What needs to be done? “It's been so long.” No, I just want to marry her.
Robach agreed with him, adding that he feels “safety” and “comfort” when he is with Holmes.
About marriage, he said: 'It's easy to know that that person has publicly and legally committed to working it out with you.

During the same podcast episode, Holmes said that he and Robach are interested in attending couples therapy.
'I never knew people went to therapy until I was maybe in my late 30s. I am a black man in the south. There is no talk of [that]. There are just some things that weren't discussed and never heard about. It wasn't until recently that I was at the peak of my professional success, but it was the lowest point I had ever been in my personal life.
Holmes said he “finally hit a wall” and someone urged him to find a therapist.
'Someone who wasn't even that close to me recognized and identified him. They immediately took me to therapy,” he said.
'And it's true that they say it's like going on a date. You have to go from therapist to therapist and find one that works for you,' she said.

He noted that once he found the therapist for him, he was “helpful.”
“It's not something I still do, but it was helpful during some of the darkest periods of my life.”
Because of that experience, she said she is considering couples therapy with Robach.
“I haven't done couples therapy with Amy yet,” he admitted. 'We've talked about doing it. We don't know why. “We just want to go and see what happens.”
The couple previously revealed that marriage was “on the table” during an episode of their Amy and TJ podcast in December 2023.
Several months later, in April, they admitted that they were debating whether they should get married or remain life partners without the official label.
“We're still deciding what that level of commitment is, whether it's legal or not,” Robach said. 'But psychologically and emotionally, we have absolutely agreed to commit to each other. We still haven't resolved the marriage issue.
However, Holmes admitted that she wanted to get married to make their relationship seem “more official” and “more current.”
