A record 153 Chinese military aircraft were spotted near Taiwan as China conducted large-scale exercises surrounding the island on Monday, Taiwan's Defense Ministry said on Tuesday. In recent years, Beijing has increased military pressure on Taipei to accept its sovereignty claims over the self-governing island. Monday's activities were the fourth round of large-scale drills in just over two years.
