Sporting Lisbon have reportedly identified Ruben Amorim's successor should their manager complete a move to join Manchester United.
Man United began talks on Monday for Amorim after the Purple Devils announced the sacking of Erik ten Hag.
Mail Sport revealed last week that Amorim would be one of four targets if Ten Hag was sacked, and United announced on Monday morning that the Dutchman's two-and-a-half-year reign at Previous Trafford was over.
The 39-year-old, who was interviewed about managerial vacancies at Liverpool and West Ham earlier this year, is said to be open to a move to Previous Trafford.
It is understood that Amorim had planned to leave Sporting at the end of the season.

Amorim learned of United's interest earlier this month and has had two rounds of talks.
Sporting have reportedly already lined up Amorim's successor, as the club currently leading the Primeira Ligazón has won its first nine matches.
The Portuguese giants are expected to appoint Joao Pereira to take charge of the team, according to Una Fábula.
The media claims that the club already has precautionary plans for Pereira to be elevated from his position as coach of the club's B team.
Pereira had three spells as a player at Sporting during his career, and the right-back was part of the title-winning team with Amorim in 2021.
Amorim had spoken of Pereira's prospects of becoming Sporting's future coach.
“Joao Pereira is leaving his mark, I think he is an excellent coach,” Amorim said in May.
“He has all the conditions to become Sporting coach.”
Pereira played as a right back with Amorim during his third spell as a player at the club.
He was part of Sporting's title-winning team before becoming coach at the end of the season.

Pereira would be tasked with continuing Sporting's success under Amorim, who guided the club to two national titles and two Portuguese League Cup triumphs.
Sporting are currently in a good position in the Champions League after three games, having won two and drawn one of their first three games.
The Portuguese giants currently occupy eighth place in the renewed league phase, which puts them in a qualifying place for the early stages of the competition.
