Mike Coppola/FilmMagicRob Lowe and Demi Moore played compelling love interests in the 1986 romantic comedy about last nightand it turns out there were some off-screen sparks, too.
During the Wednesday, October 23 episode of his podcast “Let's Speak Off Digital camera,” Kelly Ripa Lowe, 60, asked about her “very good” chemistry with Moore, 61, in the film.
“Were you in love with her?” Ripa, 54, asked. “Did you guys ever go out?”
Lowe responded, “I mean, Demi and I briefly (I'm not telling stories out of school) had something briefly.”
The actor noted that the couple's affair occurred before Moore's engagement to fellow Brat Pack. Emilio Estevez. Moore and Estevez, 62, called off their engagement in 1986.
“And then we were all in [Demi’s 1987] wedding with Bruce [Willis]”Lowe recalled.
Lowe said it's not surprising there were romances within the Brat Pack, which also included Antonio Michael Corridor, Andrew McCarthy, Nelson Judd, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.
“Look, any time you put young men and women in their twenties together, encounters are inevitable,” he said. “And I don’t think that has changed.”

Lowe has been married to his wife. Sheryl Berkoff since 1991 and the couple share sons Matthew, 31, and John, 28. Moore, meanwhile, welcomed daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, with Willis, 69, before divorcing in 2000. He later got married. to Ashton Kutcher from 2005 to 2013.
Lowe shared Wednesday that he and Moore are “on a texting thread” and “very much in touch” decades after their affair, as they are “actively trying to make a relationship.” Saint Elmo's Fire continuation.” The pair starred in the 1985 coming-of-age film, along with Estevez, Sheedy, 62, McCarthy, 61, and Nelson, 64.
Lowe said the sequel is “moving forward” but “going more slowly” than he would have liked despite all of the OG stars being “on board.”
While fans may have to wait a little longer to see the new film, both Lowe and Moore have other issues at play. Lowe currently stars in season 5 of the Fox procedural. 9-1-1: Lone Star and Moore garnered widespread critical acclaim for her role in The substancewhich hit theaters in September. The satirical body horror film addresses the psychological challenges of aging, and Moore has spoken of embracing the aging process while promoting The substance.
“For me, this is the most exciting moment of my life. “It is,” he said during an appearance on Today last month. “My children are older. I have the greatest independence and autonomy to really redefine where I want to go. “I don’t know what it looks like or what it is, but I’m excited to live in it.”
