Rajon Rondo gun arrest video shows cops noting his NBA career during stop

The police officers certainly knew who they were arresting when they put the handcuffs on him. Rajon Rondo earlier this year… as police body camera footage, obtained by sportsshows that the officers talked about his NBA career right after stopping him.

The stop, as we previously reported, occurred on January 28 in Jackson County, Indiana… after authorities alleged that Rondo's black Tesla did not have a properly secured license plate on the back.

The video shows that after initially speaking with Rondo and getting his information… the officers returned to their patrol car and chatted for a few moments about the former Celtics guard's time on the court.

“He is a former basketball player,” one of the police officers can be heard saying in the images. “He played for a lot of NBA teams.”

It should be noted… the man also added: “Not that I care, I’m just telling you.”

Later, during the stop, one of the police officers on the scene brought up Rondo's NBA career and asked him directly, “You played in the NBA, right, buddy?”

When Rondo told him yes and for how long, the officer exclaimed, “Wow!”

Unfortunately for Rondo, his fame didn't help him much during his run-in with the police… since he was still arrested by the police after they said they discovered a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a gun in their vehicle.

The 38-year-old four-time All-Star, who last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season, was charged three times during the meeting… although in September, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to close the case.

Rondo agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of illegally carrying a pistol… and in exchange, officials dropped the other two charges he faced. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail… but the sentence was suspended, meaning he will spend that time on probation if he avoids further trouble.
