“I am very, very, very lucky to have my husband,” she gushed. “But he understands that I need my space.”
Ray explained that Cusimano, 57, also likes to have time to himself, adding, “He needs his space. “John and I stayed in separate corners.”
Earlier this month, Ray admitted that she and Cusimano had had “big shouting matches” in the past.
“It's very difficult, especially for irascible, creative or loud people, to be able to calm down,” he said. Jenny Mollen during the primicia episode of his podcast. “John and I never calmed him down. We have big shouting matches all the time, but I think that's healthy. I really do. And I don't trust people who are too quiet.”
Ray discovered that being too quiet “scared” her. “Let's bring it all to light,” he said. “At the end, I slap him on the butt or kiss me on the head, and that's it. That's the apology. “It's just understood.”
After meeting in 2001, Ray and Cusimano dated for several years before exchanging vows in 2005.
“We arqueo each other, we always have,” he told Individuals in 2022. “We knew we would get through this together.”
However, Ray and Cusimano's romance has not been without its challenges. In 2020, Ray recalled having to adjust to being in close quarters amid the COVID pandemic.
“John and I have always worked together, but in separate buildings. “John focuses on business and all the different facets of our brand while I make TV shows in the studio all day,” Ray said. Us weekly exclusively in August 2020. “But now we do everything together, which of course is a big adjustment.”
Their quarantine work arrangement helped the couple learn about each other.
“I think we now have a better understanding of the role each of us has played, behind the scenes,” Ray continued. “I usually don't hear what he does during all the business calls that happen in a day… and he doesn't see how much work goes into making TV shows.”
Ray's candor has extended to her own health lately, with the cookbook author revealing that she suffered “a couple of bad falls.”
“I am a home builder. I really like housework. I like what people consider physical work. I like making dinner, planning dinners, making lists. “I love the physical work, helping to carry the wood,” he revealed on his podcast in October. “I've had a couple of bad falls in the last few weeks, so I haven't been doing that for a while.”
