PVL: Benson Bocboc named Farm Contemporary interim coach

MANILA, Philippines – Farm Contemporary named Benson Bocboc as its interim coach ahead of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference starting on November 9 at Philsports Area.

On Thursday, the Foxies wished the experienced coach a happy birthday and announced that he would be calling the shots on an interim basis for the young PVL club.

“Happy, happy birthday to Farm Contemporary interim head coach Benson Bocboc! Thanks for your patience and hard work, Coach! We can't wait to play and talk numbers with you in this upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference! COME ON!” the team wrote.

Bocboc was hired by Farm Contemporary in the Reinforced Conference where he joined the coaching staff of Japanese coach Shota Sato.

Sato and the Japanese coaches have already flown back home after Farm Contemporary's 0-4 Invitational Conference campaign, replacing beefed-up semi-finalist PLDT after withdrawing.

Bocboc, recently named the new University of the Philippines women's volleyball coach, will lead a professional team again since calling the shots for F2 Logistics in the 2022 season.

The Alas Pilipinas women's volleyball assistant coach was on the coaching staff of Ramil De Jesus' La Salle Woman Spikers from 2016 to 2024.

Bocboc will feature former La Salle stars Jolina Dela Cruz and Maicah Larroza, as well as newcomers Rachel Anne Daquis and Jheck Dionela and mainstays Trisha Tubu, Louie Romero, Rizza Cruz, Alyssa Bertolano and Ckyle Tagsip.

Farm Contemporary also hired Alohi Robins-Hardy, but her eligibility is up in the air.

Farm Contemporary made a strong appearance in the Reinforced Conference quarterfinals only to be eliminated by eventual finalist Akari.

Bocboc debuts on November 16 when Daquis and Dionela take on their former team Cignal at Ynares Heart Antipolo.
