MANILA, Philippines–The School of St. Benilde destroyed Jose Rizal University on a devastating third-quarter run to prevail, 80-65, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament.
The Blazers were simply ruthless, destroying the game quickly after the halftime break as if there was no defensive effort from the Heavy Bombers.

Guards Ian Torres and Jhomel Ancheta orchestrated the CSB run by launching 3-pointers and sliding at the line as the Blazers smothered the enemy on the other end.

And when big man Allen Liwag got his touches around the rim, there was no turning back as their lead ballooned to 30.
“Filming is an important part of our preparation. The coaches were able to point out our mistakes and what we need to do on the court,” Liwag, the season's leading MVP candidate with double-double averages in points and rebounds, said in Filipino.

Liwag scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, along with three assists and a steal for the Blazers, whose fourth straight win earned them No. 10 in 12 games overall.

Torres recorded a career-high 16 points along with two assists and two steals, while Justin Sanchez and Ancheta contributed 10 and nine points each.

“We practiced the adjustments our coaches told us and we were able to execute them in the game,” Liwag said.

After building a nine-point lead at the half on a quick drive from Gab Cometa, the Blazers held the opposition to a measly seven points in the third while torching the Bombers for 26 points in that span.

It didn't help that JRU coach Louie Gonzales resumed activities after serving a one-game suspension after the Bombers absorbed their fourth straight loss to join the San Sebastian Stags in last place with a 3-9 record. .
Joshua Guiab managed to accumulate 17 points and Shawn Argente scored 14 for the Bombers, who spent more energy throwing bricks than making them by missing 43 of their shots in 66 attempts.
