CLEVELAND – Cavaliers forward Max Strus will miss at least six weeks with a right ankle injury suffered during a recent workout, a blow to a Cleveland team ravaged by injuries last season.
The Cavs said Saturday that Strus, who was slowed by a hip injury suffered in the team's first exhibition game, was injured during a private workout on Thursday. You will be re-evaluated after six weeks.

Cleveland, which reached the Eastern Conference semifinals last season despite a series of major injuries, opens the season Wednesday in Toronto. The Cavs play their home opener on Friday against Detroit and former coach JB Bickerstaff.

Strus, 28, is in his second season with the Cavs, who acquired him in a sign-and-trade with Miami last year. Strus made 70 starts for Cleveland and averaged 12.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 32 minutes per game.
Strus suffered a hip injury in Cleveland's first preseason game on October 8.

He tried to create a charge in the second quarter against Bulls rookie forward Matas Buzelis. Strus absorbed the contact and fell hard to the ground. He remained in the game before limping off and heading to the locker room.

After the game, the Cavs said Strus had a bruise on his hip.
Strus spent three seasons with Warmth and one with the Chicago Bulls.
