City, 57, was scheduled to perform at the Today presented plaza last month, but canceled the concert after news of his mother-in-law's death. Returning to NBC's morning show on Wednesday, October 30, the musician shared an update on how he and Nicole, 57, have been doing recently.

Nicole's statement continued: “I am beyond grateful to be able to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”
At the time, a spokesperson for Nicole said Us weekly that “the family is heartbroken and asks for privacy at this time.”
Nicole addressed her mother's death days later via Instagram, writing: “My sister [Antonia Kidman] and I, along with our family, want to thank you for the great love and kindness we have felt this week. Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we can ever express. Thank you from our entire family for respecting our privacy while taking care of each other ❤️.”

Earlier this month, Kidman said The Hollywood Reporter On October 23, he said “it's been difficult” since his mother's death, adding: “It's a difficult road. “I’m holding on.”
Nicole made one of her first public appearances since her mother's death at the Live performance for Carolina benefit on Saturday, October 26. She joined her husband on stage to mark his 57th birthday.
“I want to say that tonight is your birthday. …And I wanted to be here with you. So here we go,” he said in footage of the event.
on Wednesday Today episode, City noted that the concert, which also featured performances by lucas combs, James Taylor, Sheryl Cuervo, billy strings, Bailey Zimmerman and the Avett brothers, helped raise “25 million dollars [dollars] and counting” for Hurricane Helene relief.
