Karma electric vehicles will receive a Grasp and Dynamic audio upgrade

Karma Automotive has partnered with Grasp & Dynamic (M&D) to bring the New York City-based boutique audio company's sound to two of its electric vehicles. It is the first time that M&D designs an in-cabin sound system. Cube will also design a selection of “sound tools” exclusively for Karma, including wireless headphones.

Automotive Karma/Master and Dynamic

The Karma cars in question are Karma's third-generation Karma Revero, which will begin deliveries later in 2024, and the upcoming $300,000 Karma Kaveya super coupe. Meanwhile, owners of existing Karma Reveros can enjoy Tune, a wireless audio upgrade for the Karma Revero sports sedan. According to M&D, Tune allows drivers to seamlessly download a proprietary equalization package that “enhances the in-vehicle audio experience with Grasp & Dynamic's signature rich, warm sound.”

“The caliber of the workmanship is what attracted us to Grasp & Dynamic,” said Karma Automotive President Marques McCammon. “The Tune audio package for Karma Revero, the first wireless upgrade of its kind ever offered by an automaker, is just a preview of what we have in store.”

Interestingly, it appears that Karma initially worked with Sennheiser on the 3D sound system for its Revero GT plug-in hybrid, but that partnership didn't last.

Beyond the Tune EQ package, the two companies are pretty quiet about the details. They shared a series of press photos (included here) illustrating the placement of M&D-branded speakers throughout the Karma Kaveya, but we don't know how many speakers the car will have, how much amplification power will be available, or whether the system will support audio formats. immersive audio like Dolby Atmos Music.

The partnership is just the latest combination of high-end audio and high-end automotive. Lucid became the first car company with a Dolby Atmos Music system in the cabin, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer received a custom install from McIntosh, and Audi worked with Sonos.

For its part, Grasp & Dynamic is no stranger to high-level automotive associations. He has previously collaborated with Mercedes-AMG, Lamborghini, and Bugatti on custom-branded headphones and wireless earbuds.
