Justin Hartley reflected on her first wedding ceremony with Sofia Pernaswhich took place next to the pool of his house.
During the episode of Monday, October 21, Tonight's show starring Jimmy FallonHartley, 47, spoke about how he and Pernas, 35, quietly exchanged their vows.
“In fact, a justice of the peace came to the house wearing a mask. “Sofia and I came out of the pool and we were in our bathing suits,” Hartley said of their low-key 2021 nuptials that took place during the height of the COVID pandemic.
Hartley and Pernas spontaneously decided to get married a year after they started dating.
“We were like, 'We should do this.' We should get married! We love each other. This is going to be amazing,'” Hartley continued. “Then within a week, we were able to arrange for this lawyer to come in and say, 'Are you doing this?' And we said, 'Yes, we love it.' And we are married. It was the best wedding in the world because we went back to the pool. We said, 'Margaritas!'”
Hartley and Pernas had a “really small” and intimate wedding ceremony later with their loved ones, he explained, adding: “I wanted to see her in a wedding dress and she wanted to do it. We had to go through that. It was incredible, wonderful.”
The couple originally met on the set of The young and the restless in 2015. They later went their separate ways before reconnecting years later off-screen. Us weekly broke the news in May 2020 that the couple was dating, and a year later, they tied the knot.
“They meet in different capacities. We didn't work together that closely and we didn't work together that long. I knew that she was very kind and very nice. I liked being around her. But I was in a different place in my life. He wasn’t available,” Hartley said. After their wedding, Hartley and Pernas collaborated on quantum leap before joining his CBS series, Tracker.
“She is wonderful. I mean, if I had the choice, I would spend every minute with her,” Hartley said.
