MANILA, Philippines–Filipino prospect Jayr Raquinel entered enemy territory and took home the WBC American continental super flyweight title on Sunday.

Coming into the fight as the underdog, Raquinel surprised home by betting Yahir Frank on points to silence the crowd in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Raquinel raised his record to 16-2-1 with 13 knockouts after winning by unanimous decision, 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.

The Cauayan, Negros Occidental native handed Frank his first loss, snapping the Mexican's 17-fight winning streak.

Raquinel notched his fifth straight win and second straight time beating an opponent on his own turf after defeating former title challenger Komgrich Nantapech of Thailand five months ago in Bangkok.

The 27-year-old Raquinel's last defeat came at the hands of his compatriot Giemel Magramo three years ago. Magrama once challenged for the WBO flyweight belt, but was knocked out by Junto Nakatani.
