When you're dying to know what's inside the top tech gadget releases but don't feel confident enough to remove that expensive cover, the tech-savvy folks at iFixIt always have you covered. And in the latest video on the site, Shahram Mokhtari's teardown technology deconstructed the Meta Quest 3S, the cheaper (but not much) alternative to the Meta Quest 3.

To test how easy it is to take apart the Meta Quest 3S for cleaning and repair yourself, the team at iFixIt disassembles the digital reality headset in the video above, removing all the nuts, bolts, and plastic faceplates. You can see how Mokhtari finds many similarities with the discontinued Quest 2, including the Fresnel lenses, which are identical.

“This is really cool, there are a lot of broken Quest 2s and it's great to be able to recover components to repair the latest version of the {hardware},” he says.

Mashable went into more depth on the differences between Meta Quest 3S and Meta Quest 3, and you can also read Mashable Technology Editor Kimberly Gedeon's review of Meta Quest 3S.
