ColorOS 15 with AI features launched for Oppo and OnePlus phones: Release date and supported models

ColorOS 15, the new operating system (OS) for Oppo and OnePlus smartphones, was unveiled on Thursday. Based on the latest Android 15, the update features improved visuals with texture rendering, detailed animations, and new themes. It also allows you to easily transfer files between Oppo and iPhone models, courtesy of the O+ interconnection app. ColorOS 15 supports artificial intelligence (AI) features in its Xiaobu assistant and users can now hold conversations in plain language, in addition to taking advantage of its on-screen recognition capabilities.

Features of ColorOS 15

According to For Oppo, ColorOS 15 brings a revamped user interface (UI) with new dynamic effects, natural light and shadow elements, and iconography. It uses Aurora and Tidal Engines to run app animations in parallel, improving the multitasking experience. Thanks to the optimizations, the company claims that its latest update results in 18 percent improved app responsiveness and 26 percent faster app installation.

Another notable addition is the O+ interconnect app that makes it easy to transfer files between Oppo devices and iPhone models. Users can share photos, videos and documents in seconds.

ColorOS 15 also offers artificial intelligence features. This includes new capabilities in its Xiaobu assistant, which can now understand natural language and hold conversations. Additionally, it is aware of the content on the screen, can answer questions and provide recommendations, such as travel itineraries. The Notes app can format and summarize text, while the document scanner also has summary and translation functions. Oppo has also enabled AI functionality on the voice recorder that can transcribe and summarize recordings.

There are also AI features in the Photos app. Oppo says that users can now take advantage of features such as one-touch reflection and people removal, portrait blur removal, and image enhancement. Additionally, Reside Pictures now supports electronic image stabilization (EIS).

Other features of ColorOS 15 include new gestures for the smart floating window, reversible photo album editing, separate management and notification centers, and automatic OTP deletion.

Oppo says ColorOS 15 will be available out of the box on the upcoming Discover X8 series and OnePlus 13 in China. It will be launched from November in China. The full release schedule and list of models supported by the update are as follows:
