China's new group of astronauts begins training for peca missions in Beijing

China's newly selected fourth generation of astronauts began their extensive training program in Beijing this August, confirmed Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Agency. Among the 10 new recruits are two astronauts from Hong Kong and Macau, adding regional diversity to the group.

Structured training for manned peca exploration

The training process for these astronauts is extensive and includes physical training sessions, human spaceflight lectures, and cultural activities designed to help them make a smooth transition into their roles. This preparation aims to foster team integration and resilience among students. Additionally, astronauts will undergo more than 200 training programs in eight different categories, covering critical operations on the peca surface necessary for China's ambitious manned peca exploration plans.

Specific training for representatives from Hong Kong and Macau

Since joining the China Astronaut Center on August 8, these two recruits have participated in specialized sessions on topics such as the history of China's space program and the formation of the Mandarin language. Unique selection process for fourth generation astronauts

The recent astronaut selection process, started in October 2022, ended in June this year with a diverse group of 10 astronauts: eight are spacecraft pilots, while two are scientific payload specialists, chosen specifically from Hong Kong and Macau. According to Chief Trainer Huang Weifen, this group includes pilots from the PLA Ground Force and the Navy, marking a departure from previous selection criteria, which had previously focused solely on Air Force aviators.
