The Vancouver Canucks were forced to play with just five defensemen against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday.
Veteran blueliner Tyler Myers suffered an injury early in the first half and was ruled out for the rest of the game.
The announcement was shared by the team at the beginning of the second half.
Myers suffered the injury less than two minutes into the game after taking a hit on Flyers forward Joel Farabee, resulting in an awkward collision along the boards.
He stayed on the ice, was attended to by the team's trainers, and his teammates had to help him off. As he skated toward the locker room, Myers appeared to keep his weight off his right leg.
The 34-year-old played 77 games with the Canucks last season, recording five goals and 24 assists for a total of 29 points.
