Bruno Fernandes has described the atmosphere at Manchester United as “not positive” and admitted he prefers to work with the Portugal squad in his final steadiness of life at the beleaguered club.
The Crimson Devils are enduring the worst start to a Premier League campaign in their history under Erik ten Hag, and are 14th in the table after seven games.
Man United went into the international break after two shaky draws: the first against Porto after conceding a two-goal lead, and the second, a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.
But Ten Hag will hope to improve after the break in a bid to shore up his position on the bench amid reports the club is considering replacements, including former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.
The Dutch coach will also be interested in the results lifting the morale, which his captain revealed was affected by a difficult start.

“It is not a positive moment,” Fernandes told Solar, attributing the team's spirit to “not winning games” and confirming that “the space of the national team is completely different.”
“I felt very comfortable, the dynamic is good,” continued the international. 'I'm in my country, I speak my language and I have better food.
'I have shown a good level in the national team.
“It is a space where I feel good and I feel that I can enjoy my football at a very high level, due to the dynamics we have and the quality that I have at my side.”
Although Fernandes received the second red card of his Man United career against Porto and will not be available for the upcoming matches in Europe, the first, which was transmitted days earlier during the team's sobering 3-0 defeat against Tottenham , was overturned on appeal.
As such, the midfielder will be able to feature in must-see clashes against Brentford and West Ham when Premier League action resumes next week.
Fernandes stressed that his goal is firmly set on “improving as soon as I get there (back to Manchester).
“Make the goals appear again because I am a midfielder who scores a lot of goals and over the years I have always shown a very high level of goals.

Fernandes (centre) has been preparing for the Nations League clashes against Scotland and Poland.
In his last European game for Man United, Fernandes was sent off against Porto last week.
But the midfielder will be able to take part in upcoming Premier League action after his red card against Tottenham was overturned.
'I have to live up to those expectations and my standards. What I'm doing is not at all what I want for this season because I haven't scored for the club yet.
“I hope that once I get there I can score and help my club win again and be at a good level.”
The 30-year-old will hope to improve his form at international level on Saturday night in the first of Portugal's two Nations League matches against Poland.
Fernandes, who scored against Scotland and provided an assist against Croatia during the last round of international qualifiers, will play against Scotland for the second time in Group 1 before returning to Outdated Trafford.
