Vince Carter's number 15 jersey has yet to reach the rafters at Scotiabank Enviornment, but speculation has already begun as to whose jersey will hang next to it.

The consensus belief is that Kyle Lowry's No. 7 belongs in that spot, and the former Raptor, now 76er, was asked about that possibility on Tuesday.

“If I go there, I hope one day it happens, it will be a very emotional and fun night,” Lowry said, according to Leigh Ellis of Basketball Passport. “We will see when that time comes, if that time comes. …

“If it goes up, I'll be happy to say I did something for a place I called home.”

His case for a spot in the rafters is pretty straightforward, as the starting point guard leads the franchise in all-time winning percentage (74.5), assists (4,277), steals (873), three-pointers made (1,518) and is second. in points (10,540).

During his nine seasons in Toronto, the 38-year-old made six All-Star teams, made the All-NBA Third Team in 2016 and was a key piece to the team's only NBA Championship in 2019.

Nick Nurse, the head coach of that championship team and now the Philadelphia 76ers' bench boss, was asked about Lowry's jersey retirement prospects and whether he expects his point guard to earn the honor one day.

“I think so, yes,” the nurse said. “They'll probably put a statue of Kyle in front of that enviornment taking charge. “It would be the first statue of someone taking office.”

There may not be a player more synonymous with charges than Kyle Lowry, who leads the NBA all-time in charges tied with 259.

Carter will see his jersey rise to the rafters on November 2nd against the Sacramento Kings.
