San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was removed from the game against the Kansas Metropolis Chiefs on Sunday after suffering an apparent knee injury.
The team later announced that he would be ruled out for the remainder of the game but did not provide additional details about the severity of the injury.
They also ruled out fellow receiver Deebo Samuel with an illness. Before the game, another catcher, Jauan Jennings, was ruled out with a hip injury.
The incident occurred in the final minute of the second quarter after Aiyuk made a catch at the Chiefs' 14-yard line. Aiyuk was hit by two Chiefs defenders on the play and stayed on the field after the tackle.
San Francisco's medical staff treated him on the field before he was finally loaded onto a cart and taken back to the team's locker room.
To that point in the game, Aiyuk had two catches for 23 yards on six targets.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has caught 23 balls for 351 yards in six games.
Before the season, the Reno, Nevada native signed a four-year, $120 million extension to remain with the 49ers. He was named to the All-Pro second team for the first time last season.
