Apple's Imaginative and Prescient Professional headphones are incredibly powerful, but also very expensive and quite bulky. The company is reportedly planning to release a much lighter wearable device, although don't expect it to arrive very soon.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's Imaginative and Prescient Merchandise Group is working on (at least) four new devices, including a second-generation Imaginative and Prescient Professional and a cheaper variant that could arrive this year.
According to Harvard students, Ray-Ban Meta Glasses can be used to fool strangers using facial recognition. Here's how to protect yourself.
We've already heard a lot about the rumored, more affordable Imaginative and Prescient Professional variant, but Gurman says Apple is also working on a pair of smart glasses, similar to the Ray-Ban Meta Good Glasses. Very little is known about the product, but it should share some technology with Imaginative and prescient Professional, namely the ability to scan your environment and provide useful data.
Crushable speed of light
Apple is also reportedly working on a version of AirPods with cameras. As we previously reported, the idea is that the headphones will enable new spatial audio experiences, perhaps when combined with Imaginative and Prescient Professional. Both smart glasses and AirPods could arrive in 2027.
If the report is accurate, Apple could be speeding things up due to competition from Meta, which recently launched a cheaper version of its Quest headset, as well as demoing the powerful but lightweight Orion smart glasses. The company also continues to update its Ray-Ban Meta Good Glasses, which are not incredibly versatile but have been on the market for a few years now. Put all that together, and it looks like Apple has its work cut out for it if it wants to catch up with Meta's line of smart glasses and headphones.
