NCAA 100: Benilde defeats Baste, rookie Letran is out of the prize race

MANILA, Philippines—The Faculty of St. Benilde sent San Sebastian to its eighth consecutive loss in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament.

The Blazers defeated the Golden Stags, 91-85, at the San Juan Enviornment on Sunday to maintain first place with a score of 8-2.

Allen Liwag led St. Benilde with 18 points and six rebounds, while Ian Torres and Matthew Oli helped the cause with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Letran rookie Sherick Estrada was competing for the Rookie of the Year and MVP races in the current tournament.

Estrada was ejected in the Knights' 71-61 loss to Perpetual Assist, effectively removing the rookie from the awards race.

In the fourth quarter when the Altas were leading 65-52, Estrada questioned a referee's call with 2:40 left in the period.
