The cast will join Richard Ashcroft as support for the next leg of Oasis' UK and Ireland reunion tour.
The former Verve frontman will appear at 19 sold-out dates in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin between July and September.
In a statement, Solid frontman John Energy said:
I am impressed with the meeting. Oasis is the voice of a generation and the songs they wrote and sang were and continue to be the soundtrack to many people's dreams. They are the town's band.
I've known Noel and Liam for many years, we go back a long way. It's been a journey, a journey. I have felt and known his music personally, as a fan. It inspired me as a songwriter, opened up the whole scene like never before and reached far beyond the stratosphere. Everything changed. We were all part of that and we will all be part of this. I'm especially looking forward to revisiting my family's Irish roots when the tour comes to Dublin. May the opening chords shine and shine next July.”
Noel Gallagher previously described the Liverpool Britpop band as “cosmic as the day is long” and compared seeing them live to a “religious experience”. The cast was formed in 1992 from the ashes of Powers' former band, The La's, and Peter Wilkinson's former band, Shack.
As a Los La's fan, Noel Gallagher invited Solid to support some of Oasis' early dates, including the show where Polydor spotted them and signed them. The cast became a regular support act for Oasis, including at their famous Knebworth open air show in 1996.
Solid's first album, 1995's All Change, became the best-selling iniciación album in Polydor history. It peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart; The next album, 1997's Mom Nature Calls, peaked at No. 3 on the charts. A third album, Magic Hour, released in 1999, peaked at No. 6, but 2001's Beetroot was a commercial failure, peaking at No. 78.
The band broke up after that album, but reunited in 2010 and continued releasing new music and touring.
