Nicole Kidman joined her husband, Keith Urbanoon stage at the sold-out Live performance for Carolina benefit on Saturday, October 26, to celebrate her 57th birthday.
The actress, also 57, praised City for participating in the concert and told the crowd at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, that she “wanted to be here with you” after her fellow star Eric Church I called him, according to a video of the event.
“I mean tonight is her birthday and she said, 'The only thing I can do…'” Kidman told the crowd during her brief time on stage. Kidman kissed City before she and Church, 47, who co-planned the event with lucas combsHe sang “Happy Birthday” to the “Any Individual Like You” singer.
Church stayed on stage to duet with City after the birthday festivities, performing their 2013 duet “Increase 'Em Up.”
When he first introduced City on stage, Church hailed him as “a guy I've always been able to count on,” who, “before I even ask the question, just says, 'Yeah, and whose car do we get? do we carry? '”
The Concert for Carolina took shape after Combs, 34, a North Carolina native, promised to do something to help those in his home state affected by Hurricane Helene last month. The show also featured headliners. James Taylor, Sheryl Cuervo, billy strings, Bailey Zimmerman and the Avett brothers.

Proceeds from the benefit were split between Combs and Church's Chief Cares Foundation. Combs will reportedly send his portion to Samaritan's Purse, Manna Meals Bank, Second Harvest Meals Bank of Northwest NC, and Eblen Charities.
“I love you, Carolina,” City said at the end of her presentation. “Thank you and God bless you.”
“It was a great honor to be able to raise money for Hurricane Helene recovery,” Kidman wrote alongside a video about herself. Instagram Story Sunday October 27th. “I love you baby xx.”
City and Kidman have been going through a difficult time after the loss of Kidman's mother, Janelle, who died last month at the age of 84.
“It's been difficult,” Kidman said. The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, October 23 at the Lioness Season 2 premiere in Los Angeles. “It is a difficult path. “I’m holding on.”
The actress admitted that it was bittersweet to celebrate the success of her career without her mother.
“I wish my mom was here,” he told the outlet. “That would be the only thing I would say. Everything is going great with work, but I wish my mom was here.”
